How to Make Ocean Coasters

Are you getting tired of the same boring coasters laying around on your table every day? Do you wish to change the look of the coasters without having to purchase new ones?

Don’t fret, because Faux Rizzle is here to lend a hand! In this tutorial, we will explain how to create a beautiful, one of a kind coaster that’ll have all your friends and family talking. Even if this is your first time using Faux Rizzle Art Resin, or resin, you will be hooked into the growing obsession that is resin art.

To create Ocean Coasters, you will want to gather your supplies, and begin setting up a space that you can dedicate as your work space. Resin begins as a liquid, and once hardened, may be impossible to remove. Make sure that any surfaces you don’t want resin on is completely covered by something that can be disposed of afterwards.

What you will need:

Faux Rizzle Art Resin UV

Faux Rizzle Blue Neptune Juicy Hues

Faux Rizzle White Album Juicy Hues

4 Coasters

Heat gun

Propane Torch

6 Mixing Containers

6 Stirring Sticks

Tape

1 Razor Blade

Gloves

An old plastic tablecloth or plastic cover

An old pair of clothes you don’t care about

Instructions:

Step 1: Ensure all surfaces are covered with your old plastic tablecloth or plastic cover.

Step 2: Gather all the supplies needed to complete this project.

Step 3: Tape off the underside of each coaster.

Step 4: Pour Part B into your mixing container, then an equal amount of Part A. making it a 1:1 ratio. Mix Faux Rizzle Art Resin UV in a container for 3 minutes. Make sure that you scrape the sides and bottom of the container to mix the resin thoroughly. Divide the resin into 3 new containers. Add Blue Neptune Juicy Hues into the first container. Then Blue Neptune and White Album Juicy Hues into the second container. Then finally White Album Juicy Hues into the third container. Mix each container for another 3 minutes using a new stirring stick. Note: You don’t want to leave your resin in the container for longer than 3 minutes, or you may start seeing your resin harden, or cure faster. You want to ensure that the resin remains between an ideal temperature of 70-75 degrees Fahrenheit.

Step 5: Pour the container with the darker blue resin at the edge of each coaster. Then pour the lighter blue resin next to the darker blue.

Step 6: While wearing a glove, gently spread the two blues across the coaster. Then carefully blend them where they meet to make a fade effect.

Step 7: Use a propane torch to remove any bubbles from the resin. Note: Be careful not to use too much heat. Using too much heat can speed up the curing process and give you less working time on your coasters.

Step 8: Add a clear line of resin to your coaster on the edge of the ocean you created (the blue resin). Begin adding your waves to the coaster. Use the stick that you used to mix the White Album Juicy Hues with the resin and begin adding thin lines (veins) across the coaster. Using a heat gun, blow out the veins towards the blue ocean to create waves. Continue adding veins and blowing them out. Repeat this step across all of your coasters.

Step 9: Allow to harden for 12 hours.

Step 10: Mix more Faux Rizzle Art Resin UV in a cup for 3 minutes. Make sure that you scrape the sides and bottom of the container to mix the resin thoroughly. Pour the resin into a new container and mix for another 3 minutes with a new stirring stick. Add a clear coat of resin onto each coaster.

Step 11: Mix more Faux Rizzle Art Resin UV to create waves. Mix the resin and White Album Juicy Hues pigment, and mix for 3 minutes using a new stirring stick.

Step 12: Draw thin veins across your coaster. Using a heat gun blow out each vein to create a wave effect. Repeat this step across all of your coasters.

Step 13: Allow to harden for 12 hours.

Step 14: On the underside of the coasters, use a heat gun and a razor blade to remove the drips and tape from the coasters. Repeat this step for each coaster.

Step 15: Enjoy your new, beautiful ocean coasters!

Please Note: Don’t let the temperature of your resin fall below 70 degrees Fahrenheit within the first 48 hours after finishing your coasters. Allow the coasters to cure for a full 30 days before use to avoid any rings being left by cups.

Learning a new craft, such a resin, can be tricky and that practice is very important. You can contact us with any questions or issues you may have. Our Faux Rizzle Customer Service team is happy to assist you. You can contact us at: (800) 628-2962 or email: info@artresinfauxrizzle.com.
